On Monday, July 18th, the Ontario’s Blue Coast Summer Students went to spend the day in Grand Bend! It seemed like a rainy and cloudy day, which would have been a good day to avoid big crowds, but the weather ended up being hot and sunny. They arrived in Grand Bend and were excited for a day of fun.
To start their day off, the summer students went to The Tipsy Pelican for an early lunch. The food was great, service was awesome, and the décor inside was incredibly eye-catching. Each of the summer students described their meal as “10/10” and “would absolutely go again.” The fries were a huge hit, as well.
Next up on their list was checking out the strip. It ended up being a pretty hot and humid day, so they were hoping to find some bathing suits or shorts. Luckily, they were able to find everything they needed to cool down along the main strip. They went into Archie’s (Beach & Surf Shops), Mint Apparel, Sea Jewels, Bikiniland, Metanoia Boutique, as well as a few others. A romper, some shirts, and a pair of shorts were purchased in hopes they’d get to cool down at least a little bit and they definitely helped!
All six of the summer students were incredibly excited to visit Grand Bend Escape. There was a lot of discussion back and forth about which escape room would be best, but the helpful staff suggested “Prison Break,” which they ended up doing. Four of the summer students had never done an escape room of any kind, so nobody was really sure what to expect. They definitely struggled with it more than they would like to admit, but they had a blast and laughed a lot along the way. The staff had to help, but it was definitely a great experience! They would highly recommend Grand Bend Escapes to everyone and have decided to come back again when off of work.
To finish off their day, the summer students went to Willie’s Beach Bar. The restaurant was incredibly cool and they thoroughly enjoyed their visit. The inside of the restaurant had multiple arcade games, jenga, cornhole, and connect four. Although they enjoyed their visit, they can only imagine how nice it would be to visit while off of work. Enjoying the view, the sun, the games, and a famous sand pail from Willie’s sounds like a pretty good day!
The Ontario’s Blue Coast Summer Students had a fun-filled day in Grand Bend, scoping out the area and finding activities to promote. It’s always a good time in Sarnia-Lambton’s own Grand Bend.
